Lake of The Woods Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass Fishing


Harris Hill Resort is located on Lake of the Woods between the communities of Rainy River and Morson Ontario.We are approx 7 miles to the mouth of the Rainy River. Lake of The Woods is famous for Smallmouth Bass fishing. There are also Largemouth Bass available in the back weedy bays. Smallmouth bass are common in the 1 to 4-pound range but if you target Smallmouth Bass you will catch a few in the 5 to 6-pound range and a few times during the summer a 7-pound bass may be caught. Largemouth Bass are not as Plentiful as Smallmouth but the Largemouth can get big with the odd 8-pounder being caught. Most Largemouth Bass are in the 1 to 3-pound range.Harris Hill has beautiful lakeview cottages as well as lakeside camping for RVs and tenters. We offer both American Plan and Housekeeping accommodations.


First Nation Guides is a family-owned boat-in wilderness lodge at the south-east shores of the Aulneau Peninsula within Lake Of The Woods with boats on Crow Lake. Guests are boated in from the Nestor Falls / Sioux Narrows area or welcome to bring their own boats. This part of the lake is over-run by Smallmouth Bass. Guests can expect to catch 25 to 60 Bronzebacks per day and on a really good day over 100 bass if you are targeting them. This number includes half the bass being between 2 and 4 pounds. During a week you should catch a couple in the 4 to 6 pound range. Smallmouth Bass over 6 pounds are very rare but we do get the odd 7-pounder. Accommodations are in a large lakefront housekeeping cottage with all modern amenities. Interiors are tastefully decorated with newer furniture and tongue-&-grove pine throughout. As the name suggest guides are available at all times. They also have fishing for Walleye, Northern Pike, Musky, Lake Trout, Perch, Sauger & Crappie.


Northwest Outfitters is located on Shoal Lake which is part of Lake Of The Woods. Northwest Outfitters have good fishing for Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Walleye, Muskie, Northern Pike and Lake Trout. Their main lodge is an outpost lodge which is only accessible by boat or float plane. They offer American Plan accommodations as well as housekeeping outpost cabins.


Shoal Lake Lodge is on an Island in the middle of Shoal Lake, which is rated the #1 drive-to destination for Smallmouth Bass in Canada. Smallmouth Bass are extremely plentiful as they are the dominant species. Hundreds of Smallmouth Bass in the 1 to 6-pound range can be caught per person per week. This lodge is new with extremely nice cabins and boats. They also have native guides available who have lived on the lake all their lives and know where all the biggest bass are.
